Technology Day Thermoforming in Sao Paulo for experts from Brazilian Packaging Industry

The 1-day event, organized for customers by Kiefel do Brasil, attracted around 40 thermoforming experts looking for best technical solutions for the challenges of a growing market for rigid plastics packaging especially for an expanding food and beverages sector.
With guest speakers from Marbach, Battenfeld-Cincinatti, Braskem and ABRE (Brazilian packaging association) the organizers were able to provide a comprehensive overview on material, extrusion technology and special topics like MAP-trays applications and Thermoforming IML (In Mold Labeling) technology for rigid packaging parts.
“And more and more aluminium and metal packaging will be substituted by thermoformed multilayer packaging”, says Patrick Claassens, Director Kiefel do Brasil. “Convenience is also a driving factor for another highlight in beverage packaging, the coffee capsule. The multilayer cups, either based on PS or PP are also offered for tea and other drinks. Kiefel has realized several projects in North America, Europe and Asia with up to 91 cavities producing more than 150.000 coffee capsules per hour on one KTR6 Speed.”
