Kiefel GmbH, a market leading company for thermoforming and joining technology and member of the Brückner Group, is consistently pursuing its structural reorientation for the long-term strengthening of its global competitiveness.
With the “ONE Kiefel” strategy, the company aims to increase its innovative capacity and increase proximity to customers in all relevant markets. In addition to the existing business areas of polymer, fiber and Medical & Pharma, the focus lies on all segments with great growth potential and a wide customer base, such as standard automation, to make better use of market opportunities and expand the product portfolio. The modifications are required due to the challenging market situation in machine engineering and intensified global competition. This strategic focus also involves changes to job profiles and organizational structures.
As a result, and due to the accompanying consolidation of sites, an estimated 100 jobs are planned to be eliminated at the Freilassing site. About one quarter will be the result of natural fluctuations, such as retirements or the expiration of fixed-term contracts. Employees were informed today in person during an employee meeting about the strategy for the future and the planned measures.
“ONE Kiefel” is our commitment and that of the Brückner Group to the successful future of our company, also in Freilassing. We are aware that this transformation means a painful cut for some of our colleagues in Freilassing”, emphasizes Matt Sieverding, CEO of Kiefel GmbH. “It is our goal to make the downsizing as fair as possible. We are already in intense talks and are negotiating with the works committee.”
Kiefel's global teams will work together in the future more closely networked, while service and innovation centers will be further extended in important markets. At the same time, Kiefel clearly believes in the Freilassing site, which also in the future will take on a central role in our company network. In spite of the transformation, highly-qualified jobs and high-quality training remain a fixed component in the region. Investments in the millions are planned for 2025 to further strengthen the site, including the establishment of an innovation center in the area of polymers.
