KIEFEL GmbH, a market leader for thermoforming and joining technology, has received the ABB European Value Provider Award in the “Outstanding Performance” category. Peter Eisl, CFO of Kiefel, accepted the award on Wednesday at the company's headquarters in Freilassing. With this award, ABB is highlighting the extensive robot-assisted automation that Kiefel provides, particularly in the NATUREFORMER KFT 90 system. Kiefel has been advancing into the new business field of fiber thermoforming for around a year, the fiber thermoforming of packaging and other products based on natural fibers with this system.
The mechanical engineering company has relied on industrial robot technology from ABB for many years, and has now further expanded their collaboration with regard to the highly sought-after fiber technology. In the KFT 90, the ABB robots are used for tool handling and product pick-and-place. These systems enable Kiefel to achieve move rapid development and faster commissioning for its customers, as well as making the machine more flexible to adapt to other product variants.
Due to the corona pandemic, this year's award ceremony was primarily virtual, with a small group also meeting at Kiefel. The award was presented by members of the ABB team, Gabi Gutter-Johansen, Local Business Line Manager General Industry, and Sebastian Spanfelner, Senior Sales Manager, to the Kiefel team.
"In ABB we have found a partner with whom we can meet the diverse requirements of our customers in fiber thermoforming," explains Peter Eisl. "Since we are already working at full speed on further developments, we are pleased about this recognition on our shared path." Kiefel is one of four European winners of this year's award and is the only German recipient.
It was not until August of this year that ABB included Kiefel in its in-house “Authorized Value Provider Program”. This certification allows the machine manufacturer to offer its customers special advantages in sales, service and engineering, e.g. even faster support on a global level, access to demo robots or the further development of interface integrations.
